Santa’s Back In Town!

Christmas is going to be in full swing before you know it  . . . the kids are coming back home and as you all know that makes me very happy :O)  As always, I’ve got the homestead decorated already.  Still adding some some touches here and there, but loving it.  As much as I try to be simple, it never turns out that way. There’s just something about Christmas that’s so exciting.  Cozy is always good, isn’t it?

A vintage look is what I love . . . I never seem to get tired of it.  It just screams “warm”.

I’ve had this bird house like forever, since my kids were small.  I put this one in the kitchen this season.

My new angel this year, I just love her, around her waist is a tag that reads, “Oh come let us adore him!” I think I might hold on to this one.

Rexy and I found this log cabin style quilt in Julian earlier this year on one of our day trips, good memory for sure.

Thats all for now  . . . I’ll add some more pics soon again.  Enjoy this beautiful season and remember it all about Christ . . . there is something a whole lot bigger going on in this world!  I have some exciting news to share with you all in my next post.  Blessings, xo

Proverbs 30:4

Who has ascended to heaven and come down?  Who has gathered the wind in his fist?  Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?  Who has established all the ends of the earth?  What is his name, and what is his son’s name?  Surely you know!

Spooky Times Around The Homestead

We love Halloween .  . don’t we?  Always fun too.  I love “scary cute” always.  Never wanted to scare my kids when they were little.  My middle son was just here for a visit and always enjoys the decorations around the holidays.

I really don’t buy much anymore, but I did add a couple of pumpkins this year.

Didn’t really have time this year to add to my cross stitch collection for Halloween . . . bummed!

That bucket pumpkin on the left above is Rexy’s favorite . . . the smiley one LOL! These two are sitting on the mantle in the living room.

This old tool box in the below pic, I’ve had for years now, I always used it for my pumpkin display.

Always have to have one of my dolls in the decorations . . . been making them for years now, loving my skeleton paper pinwheel.

I added these honeycomb balls and pumpkins lantern to my collection this year, liking them for sure.

Hope you all have a “Spooktacular” Halloween  . . . don’t eat too much candy LOL!

Vintage Market treasures found . . . Oh Boy!

Loving this time of the year  . . . just can’t wait as usual.  Since moving here to Mission Viejo.  I have found some wonderful places to shop.  One of them is the monthly vintage market at Saddleback College.  I have a nice collection of vintage holiday decorations.  Using vintage toys and worn vintage tin containers make the cutest displays for collections.  I found this adorable children’s stove from Empire toys with the electric plug still attached and in fair condition.  Check out the plug, cutest part of the stove.

I might be wrong, but I believe this is a lunch box.  Loving the red color.  Weathered just the way I like it.  The older the better.

Also, found this blue oriental candy tin, Rex was able to remove the white paint that was splatter on it, still able to use it.  Hard to see, gold crane birds are part of the design against the blue color.

The pic below shows the birds a little bit more clearly. This shade of blue is really pretty and deep in color still.

Fall's Back Again . . . Oh Boy!

These seasons certainly can't move any quicker than they are now  . . . didn't we just say good bye to the holidays?  My oldest Davey, came for a visit this week.  It gave me a good excuse to start decorating for Fall around the Homestead.  I have a little coffee/tea area in my kitchen that I really enjoy decorating a touch.  I certainly have a love for pine cones.  Rexy and I collected several around the area where we  live about two years ago.

The small vase that is holding the pine cones is a Roseville piece.  I think I paid a whole quarter for it back in the day . . . love the shade of blue on it.

I put the two chickens back up  . . . Chester and Wilma, Rexy named them after his parents.  They're fun pieces too.

As usual, always have to add my favorites cross stitch pieces to my Fall decor.  This alphabet was a fun one to stitch in different shades of blues.

I put some more pine cones in the entry in a small vase.  Not too much but just enough Fall decorations around the house.

Happy 4th of July . . . its coming!

Thought I would update . . . haven't really posted anything lately since early Spring.  It's always fun decorating the homestead, but lately I really haven't done much.  Little touches here and there.  Anyways, thought I would post a few pics.  Some Independence Day decorations below, stuck a couple these pinwheels in a red vase and called it a day  . . . lol!  Made these last year, probably should make some more.  My go to paper store closed unexpectedly and so miss it.  Those's kind of specialty stores seem to be leaving us now.  Need to find a new one soon.

I found this wonderful platter the other day at my local Hallmark store and absolutely love it.

The colors are absolutely perfect for the kitchen/den area.  Rexy has a large catus collection in the back yard.  This dish sure compliments it.

I added some flowers to my bucket above the dinning table, a little red, white and blue of course.

This was one of the first cross-stitch projects I completed when Rexy and I started our relationship.  We spent lots of time at the beach walking the trails.  This was a perfect pattern.  Fun to display in the Summer time.

Our Impatients are doing lovely.  Growing strong and colorful.  Too pretty!

We bought some new umbrellas too  . . . decided on a solid teal one below and striped one for the deck.  Rexy and I love sitting out there in the morning while drinking our tea and coffee.

Hope you all have an awesome 4th of July celebration . . . Blessings! xo

Everything is new again . . . Spring has arrived

Well . . . Spring has finally arrived.  Rexy and I are starting to get busy around the yard now and not so much inside the house.

It always so pretty and fresh when flowers start to bloom . . . yes!

Rexy is planting a new lawn in the backyard  . . . so much work.  He has quite a collection of cactus . . . which can be a little “pokey” at times, I’m still trying to get used to them . . . ouch!

This large pot will go outside of the slider off of the den.  Hopefully, it will get enough sun, keeping our fingers crossed for sure.   When he was digging up the yard putting new sprinklers in, he came across these rocks . . . those will look nice in the yard.

Succulents are the way to go in California  . . . super easy and lots of variety too.  I absolutely love having lots of flowers too . . . the soil here is sort of hard to work with thou, I seem to do better with potted flowers.  I guess this could be a good thing  . . . it keeps them looking fresh changing them out every couple of months.

ISAIAH 40:8  The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever

Hope you all had a beautiful Easter!  Blessings, xo

How Did Your Valentines Go?

Mine started first thing in the morning  . . . Rexy put a bouquet of flowers in my watering bucket on top of the kitchen counter . . . he’s too funny.  Naturally, I put the flowers in a nice vase and set up a small Valentine display.

The pic of Rexy standing by the “rust bucket” as we called this old car of his, which he was heart-broken when he sold it a couple of weeks ago.   I just happened to take this picture of him with his beloved car prior to selling it.  The car actually belonged to his Mom.  He bought the car from his parents about 28 years ago and continued to drive it all this time.  This was part of his Valentines Day present along with the cute little pig . . . he has a small collection of pigs that he loves.  He really loved the picture.

I had to work on Valentine’s Day but we ended the day by going out to dinner to “The Habor House” in Dana Point.  It was a very pleasant day :O)
