Let’s not forget . . . what it’s all about

We often get so caught up in this crazy season  . . . I know I do.  It always good to slow down and just  appreciate how beautiful this season really is.  Sometimes I make myself a cup of coffee and walk around the house and enjoy all my Christmas decorations from over the years.

I don’t always have the room or really desire to put everything out every year.  It seems like each year I put less and less out.

Slow down and listen just to the silent of this season . . . it’s beautiful!  Blessings, xo

A gentle Christmas season . . .

Christmas decorating is always fun but sometimes could be over whelming too.  Every year I try to do something a little different.  Loving on my vintage always . .  this year . . . a little less.

Anything vintage and faded is my favorite . . . I bought this beautiful rindstone heart at Pottery Barn.  All profits of this purchase goes to St. Jude's which is always a good thing to do.

Adding some old books always give it some charm along with that "old" tool box in red.

Some old tin canisters with a mini vintage tree on top along with some old-fashioned style candy containers.

A little hard to see in this pic  . . . I found this beautiful fushia colored ribbon at Joanns.  The ribbon was a little stiff to work with though.

Loving this snowman I made several years ago . . . it so looks like my Dad who is in Heaven now with my big sister Jeri.  I put him right in the entry so he can welcome the family in :O) I've never seen him without a smile . . . he was always happy to see us :O)

Matthew 2:9-11

After they had heard the king, they went on their way and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.   When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.  On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.  Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of good and of incense and of myrrh.

Enjoy this beautiful season . . . . blessings always xo

Too soon for Christmas . . . but just a little bit of holly

My dolls are not everyone's favorite but I love them  . . . never get tired of making them . . . thats for sure.  Rexy tells me they are unique . . . skinny head with a big body, that's my style  LOL!

My kids are way to big now, but every year I sing "Santa Claus is Coming To Town" to them.  I have sung this song to them since they were little ones and they would always smile and laugh, good memorie for sure.  Sure do miss those days!

"better not pout" was the perfect saying for this doll and a heart with some holly along with a red pom pom too.  I added some antique lace for her collar.  I love rummage sales, always looking for unique sewing extras.  I found this lace years ago and finally got to used some.

Added a little bit of holly with a french knot to her hair . . . feeling festive for sure.

Added an additional layer of tulle/fabric trim . . . something sort of fun too.

Here she is  . . . sitting pretty and waiting for the Christmas season to start. It's fun getting ready for the holiday season . . . isn't it.  I'm still working on my Thanksgiving table setting, better get back to that.  Thought I would stop and share my latest doll creation.  Blessings, :O) xo

Love is Amazing . . . it works!

This is an amazing read, excellent understanding of the power of love  . . . please take the time to read this article  . . . so much truth to this.  I truly enjoyed reading this.  I realized after the death of my husband Dave that death can't even stop the power of love.  Enjoy and God Bless!

Take a peek into my favorite place . . . my sewing room :O)

As you all know I love to create things, stuff, dolls . . . it's a fire that burns in me, especially this time of the year. I get so excited to make things for my friends, my love ones and always my kids aka adult kids. These photos are from my sewing room,  sort of dark, they were taken early this morning.

Sometimes when I sit down at my sewing table, I never know what I'm going to make.  In the pic above is an old paper clip box from the 40's I believe. I found it at a rummage sale, I have a weakness for them.  Made it look like a box for a present to Jesus for Christmas.  Added a little tree to the top of it along with a name tag.  These creations are "nothings" but they make me smile :O)  I have no ideal what I'm going to do with it, maybe add it to a doll or set it somewhere in the house.

I've been blessed enough to have a sewing and craft room again  . . . I've missed it, believe it or not having a place to craft in my one bedroom apartment with my daughter Cassandra was pretty tough for awhile, but I got through it.  I used to craft on my kitchen table.  Even my one bedroom apartment was decorated too for the holidays.  When will I ever stop, sort of funny now . . . LOL!

It easy to get loss when you're creating or sewing something  . . . your imagination runs just wild sometimes . . . but it's always fun.  My Mom was having a garage sale and was selling these framed needlepoint pansey designs, I grabbed them and turned one into a pin cushion.  Had this one forever and I used it all the time  . . . love it.

I have an obsession with seam binding, vintage of course, can't get enough of it, I used it on everything.

I used Rex's old workbench from his job as my sewing and crafting table, I like it.  Everything is sort of stacked around me, cozy I might say.

My current cross stitch project, hopefully I can complete it before Thanksgiving, I have a shelf above the dinning room table for displaying cute stuff I thought this might look nice up there.  It matches my holiday dishes.  I've added some gold beading too, hard to see in this photo.

Tried a new restaurant yesterday called "Slapfish" very good I might say.  Definitely will go again.  Cassandra and I visited the outlets at San Clemente yesterday and had so much fun there too.  Have a blessed Sunday and may God's favor be over your life xo

Trick or Treat at the Homestead

I know I'm doing it a little early . . .  Rexy and I will be out of town next week and it would be nice to return to the homestead fully decorated for the month of October.  I'm always loving the holidays as you know.  Didn't really buy too much this year for Halloween.  Michaels has some super cute turkey buzzards, they sort of have a funny look to their faces, which I love.  Haven't bought them yet, but thinking about it.  Don't really care for the evil looking Halloween decorations.

These rubber rats in this tin bucket is about the most scary decoration I have.  Never really wanted to scare my kiddos when they were growing up.

I take that back, this cat looks a little scary, bought him a long time ago, wished I would have bought some others too, good buy for sure.

Came across this picture when I was pulling my Halloween decorations out of the garage.  Are these two not the cutest.  That's my oldest son, Davey on the left, the little guy, who is now going to be 34 years old next month.  Gee how time flies!  That's my nephew on the right,  Danny-boy, I still call him by that name and he's almost 40 years old LOL!  These two have been prayed over quite a bit and always will be.  May God give them favor always.

Psalm 148 1-3

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights above.  Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts.  Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Blessings :O)

Things are about to get exciting again . . . . Fall's Coming!

Is Fall coming again  . . . I hope so, I really enjoy this season that's about to come upon us.  The kids will come home again from their busy lifes and visit one another again.  My oldest son in located in Colorado and my middle son is located up north now, and my baby, which is my daughter is located close by.  I just love it when they are all home and we are all together under one roof.

There's something special about all being together again, we eat, alot  . . . lol! We laugh just too much making fun of each other, drink gallons of coffee.  Throw in some Sees Candies in that too, our family favorite is See's peanut brittle, can't eat enough.

To be honest with you, I think it's me, that gets really excited and I'm probably the only one out of the bunch that thinks this way . . . lol!  As a Mom, I think we are the ones who create the family traditions.  My kids might not realize that now, but one day they will.  I feel as individuals we are always building towards something.  Creating is what I only know to do :O)

A long time ago, when I was a young mother, my Grandma told me, that when a house has no children in it, "it's dead".  I've never forgotten that and yes I can agree with her now.  The house is soo quiet, sometimes too quiet.  I love the noise, it shouts to me, "LIFE IS HAPPENING  . . . ENJOY IT!

Colossians 3:15 - 17

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.  And what ever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

When Life Gets Too Quiet . . . Maybe time for a change, it's a good thing!

My season of my life is quiet right now  . . . I know it will be loud again, so I'll will enjoy this quiet.  I don't think I ever stop blogging, I know a lot of my friends don't post as often and have stopped blogging all together. Sort of miss that too.

As usual I like to keep my hands busy doing something.  I made this small pin cushion, "Summer Iris" by Blackbird Designs for a dear friend of mine about two years ago.  I loved it so much I decided to make one for myself.

Sorry for the dark pics, these were taken early in the morning

This is my sewing box for cross stitching and as you see there are two pairs of glasses, I used an old pair along with a pair of cheaters I bought at the dollar store awhile ago.  Looks pretty funny when I wear them, but they work lol!

Found these new "absorbent" ceramic coasters up north in Solvang, California, a couple of weeks ago.  Rexy took me there for my 60th birthday, boy I'm getting old, lol!   Loving them and they work very nicely.

Catching up with my magazine readings, sure miss County Home every month, this issue only comes out three or four times a year.  The internet has changed a lot of things over the years.

Happy Independence Day!
